RIVER RAFTING
There are two great rivers to canoe, tube, kayak, or stand-up-paddle board-Crystal River and The Platte River. The clear water is a lovely, peaceful route to take with the family.

BIKING
The Heritage trail is straight off of M-22 for a short bike or a longer path with ever changing scenery. Stop at the visitors center to get maps and information on the path.

SKIING
Winter in Empire is just as beautiful as summer. There are plenty of places to ski very close by, including Crystal Mountain which is only 30 minutes from the cottage.

DUNE CLIMB
The iconic Sleeping Bear Dune climb is a must do when visiting Empire. Take on the challenge to get to the top of the dune.

HISTORY
There is so much rich history to explore from the Empire Museum to Glen Haven. You'll even learn about the history of the Stormer Family.
WINERIES
Leelanau County has some of the best Wineries in the area.
Two of our favorites are Black Star Farm and Chateau Chantal. Check out the home page of Leelanau Wineries:
There are wine events each month that pair wine with food for a full day of fun.

SWIMMING
The crystal, clear water is so blue it takes your breath away. You would think you are in the Caribbean when you see Lake Michigan, Big Glen, or Little Glen Lake. The best secret swimming spots are North Bar Lake and Esch Road Beach. Summer time makes you want to dive right it.
